Phuong Tran, NP

Dr. Phuong Tran, DNP, PMHNP-BC, takes a unique and progressive approach to mental health illnesses. Treatment is personalized, based on evidence research, and encompasses on a myriad of treatment modalities. He considers the influence of three factors: one’s past and upbringing, current life situations, and one’s genetic makeup, affecting influencing mental illness. Being trained and current with the best evidence based medication treatment strategy, he places a strong emphasis on psychosocial, and psychodynamic factors as the foundation of his treatment. As many psychiatric conditions have an underlying biological and genetic component, medications can also an important component of treatment and can be very effective when used appropriately.

Dr. Phuong Tran earned his Bachelor’s of Science from the University of California, Irvine. Shortly after, he earned his second bachelors in Nursing. He then received his Master's of Science from California State University, Long Beach. Dr. Tran continued his education, and earned his Doctorate in Nursing Practice/Science at Chapman University, where his clinical dissertation focused on utilizing adherence therapy, to increase medication compliance and reducing of depressive symptoms. He is American Board certified as a Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner and is also licensed in the state of California. Dr. Tran has 6 years of experience in the mental health field. Currently, Dr. Tran sees patients of all ages, with myriad mental health issues, including: depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, insomnia, ADHD, OCD, and disorders such as bipolar, dementia-related, eating, and autism.
